500 most dangerous road zones in Poland2009-03-31 AutoMapa, Krzysztof Hołowczyc's "Safe Driver" Foundation and the Police Headquarters carried out the "500 most dangerous road zones in Poland" project, which will provide all AutoMapa users with access to data on the most accident-prone roads in the country. The data contributed by the Police Headquarters will enable Polish drivers to safely reach their destination. For the first time in Poland, AutoMapa users will have access to information on dangerous road sections with a long history of accidents and collisions. The data contributed by the Police Headquarters is a sad reflection of the situation on Polish roads. "Our main goal is to improve safety on Polish roads, and we are always ready to support traffic safety campaigns. More than 300,000 AutoMapa users will now have access to information on the most dangerous areas to make their journey safer ever than before," says Jędrzej Szynkarczuk, AutoMapa's Marketing Director. The "500 most dangerous road zones in Poland" project is a spin-off of a highly successful campaign for improved road safety in Warmia and Mazury, carried out by AutoMapa and the police of the Warmia and Mazury region last year. The data collected by the local police was incorporated in AutoMapa software last summer. Following a successful pilot program, initiated in joint effort with Krzysztof Hołowczyc's "Safe Driver" Foundation, the campaign's social partner, the project has been successfully launched across Poland. "Safety standards on Polish roads continue to be unsatisfactory. Accidents happen everywhere, but some places are more prone to traffic collisions. The popularity of GPS navigation systems is soaring, and this gives us an unprecedented opportunity to communicate to drivers that they are passing through an accident-prone zone. I am happy that the police and AutoMapa are actively working towards improving traffic safety in joint effort with the 'Save Driver' Foundation. Initiatives such as the "500 most dangerous road zones in Poland", launched with the support of GPS navigation systems, are highly valuable because they lower the number of traffic accidents," says Krzysztof Hołowczyc, rally driver. The situation on Polish roads is changing rapidly, and data gathered as part of the "500 most dangerous road zones in Poland" project will be updated every six months. The collected data is available in AutoMapa version 5.5, Targeo.pl digital map service, Targeo.mobi mobile version of the service and the Drogowskaźnik service launched by the Plus mobile operator. |
