AutoMapa and PAA: together for improving road safety

AutoMapa, the leader of the Polish GPS navigation market and the Polish Automotive Association have signed an agreement which opens a new direction in the efforts to improve the safety on Polish roads.
AutoMapa will be used in seven biggest driving schools in Poland, which belong to the Polish Automotive Association, including such training sites as Opel Driving Academy, Warsaw's Safe Driving Academy or Kraków's Subaru Driving School. With AutoMapa installed in the training vehicles, the students participating in the driving course will learn how to safely and effectively use GPS navigation, as well as observe a car driving in slalom or trying to break. Drivers will also learn the rules for safe installation and use of a car's navigation system. Moreover, any experience obtained from this cooperation will be reflected in the further development of AutoMapa in the scope of improving road safety.
"The cooperation with AutoMapa constitutes a new approach to driver training. The education process is long and therefore it is very important that it utilizes the most advanced materials. We believe that, thanks to our cooperation and the technical capacity offered by AutoMapa, drivers who complete courses organized by our academies will be model participants in road traffic," said Mariusz Stuszewski, Vice-Chairman of the Polish Automotive Association.
The Polish Automotive Association for Improving Driving Technique and Safety has been established in 2001; it is composed of specialists in road traffic safety and driving technique improvement, who constitute a group of opinion-makers and advisors. The main purpose of the Association is the promotion and implementation of road safety ideas, as well as the integration of persons interested in that problem. PAA groups several training sites where drivers can improve their skills. Thanks to practical lessons on a skidding plate, conducted under the supervision of experienced instructors, drivers can learn the importance of car kinetics, the movements of a skidding car and how to control them.
"Driving safely means, above all, driving with the awareness and knowledge of the impact of road conditions or proper vehicle preparation on the overall safety. It requires a realistic view of one's own abilities and a correct attitude behind the wheel. The use of AutoMapa in the process of training drivers is something new, an invitation extended to cutting-edge technology that can help drivers," says Krzysztof Hołowczyc, rally driver.
