Emergency SMS in AutoMapa!2010-05-06 AutoMapa introduces the function of sending an emergency SMS, to get instant help in case of a critical road situation. The person whose number is entered in AutoMapa as the In Case of Emergency (ICE) contact will receive an SMS with the following message: "AutoMapa user John Doe is asking you for help. The current GPS position: 52°13'54.192"N, 21°0'19.943"E”. If the navigation device does not have access to a GSM network, in case of emergency the user should use the "Where am I" function, which will display the current position. Exact location of a person needing help is crucial for rescue workers, who, thanks to that, will be able to reach the injured more quickly. Along with the In Case of Emergency solution, AutoMapa introduces the "Go for help" function, which will help the user to get to the nearest doctor or hospital as quickly as possible. When the function is started, AutoMapa will automatically display the nearest locations where the injured can receive medical aid and will lead the user there using the fastest route. The emergency message functionality is also extended with a comprehensive guide for the driver. It gives answers to the following: What to do in case of an accident or a collission? How to protect the accident site? How to deliver first aid? How to perform CPR? All the necessary information can be found in the special "Accident" menu of AutoMapa. Janusz M. Kamiński, AutoMapa PR and marketing director, stresses that safety has been AutoMapa's concern for many years. New functions are constantly being developed to improve safety on and off the roads. The projects, such as "500 most dangerous road zones in Poland" performed with the General Police HQ in Poland and "Safe crossing. Stop and live" developed in cooperation with PKP (Polish railway lines) have become model examples of safety improvement programs. The "Accident" function will be made available to users in the newest AutoMapa 6.5 |
